What to Wear
Here’s another point that frequently ruffles feathers, but really shouldn’t: Your clothing, accessories, hair, make-up, and general personal appearance do matter, and will be judged when you interview. What you wear and how you present yourself in person is a significant aspect of the overall impression you convey to a potential employer. While this may sound intimidating, don’t let it stress you out. The good news is that it’s really not complicated to get it right. What is surprising is how frequently job seekers get it wrong.
Deciding what to wear is similar to preparing your resume, in the sense that you don’t want to do anything that will get you eliminated. Now is not the time to be outrageous. Regardless of gender and personal style, classic and classy are always best. Dress appropriately for the position. You want to look good, but make it seem effortless at the same time.
Pretend that you are about to show up for your first day of work at the company. What would you wear to blend appropriately with the other employees?
